Advanced Search Function
EZ office seems to be missing ad advanced search function that would support additive filtering (e.g. Show me all assets with the location X, Group Y, and vendor Z)
Adding filter controls to the column headers in the item view would be an elegant way of providing this functionality
Hi Nolan
Thanks for the suggestion. We already have advanced searching on the mid term product roadmap. That said, for now, you can create a list of assets while searching using the small downward arrow button inside the search bar.
It allows all assets to show as a listing on top of which columns can be filtered and sorted to find the correct assets.
If you have a certain criterion to filter specific assets, let us know on support@ezofficeinventory.com and we will assist in finding the fastest way to search for them.
regards

Hi Barry
Thank you for responding. How does this feature fit into your workflows? Your answer will help us make it's case to product management.regards

We imagine the Advanced Search option leveraging the same interface already built, used for the Custom Filter – build a list of fields and criteria – but works like an ad hoc filter. Users could a search using various parameters without having to save it as a filter. (It might take several tries to get the desired results.) When you reopen the Advanced Search it would pre-populate with last search performed, or the one currently active, allowing the user to further refine the search, or to search within results. Users could then save often used searches that they could select again later in a private list like the Filters, or make them public for others to use.

Nolan, a follow-up: Note that EZOI does have additive filtering within the items view. Go to Items -> Assets/AS/Inven and click on the Custom Filter button. You can now set additive filters with the Create New button to refine your results, and then save the filter with a Name to bring it up quickly (e.g. repeated usage) in the list view. Does that help?

The groups, locations, and vendors themselves are searchable. Another feature of the item-list view is the ability to customize the columns to show the groups, location, vendors and other asset details, and then being able to sort them. Does that help?
I'll be forwarding your idea to product management and will let you know when we've an update.regards

From what I can see, the feature you are describing would allow me to restrict the search to Assets, Stock, or Inventory, but it would not address my need to use multiple property restrictions such as location and group. Moreover, the current search box does not appear to search against group, location, vendor, or many other asset properties.
