Start Asset Service/Maintenance WITHOUT checking-in the Asset!
It would be super helpful if we could start servicing an Asset without having to check it in. I understand that checking in the asset first makes sense because we would technically have the asset while we are servicing it, but 100% of the time when we have an asset that needs servicing we checkout a loaner asset to the user so it is already implied that the asset being serviced is in our possession. This workflow also makes it easier for someone to lookup a user in our inventory system and see that the user not only has a loaner asset, but also they can easily see what asset they are supposed to have.
An addition to this request would be that with this new feature, we would also be able to set Default values for the "Expected Completion" field (like 7 days from the current day) and the "Service Performed by" field to be our preferred service vendor.

Hi
You can already create service tickets on assets that are checked out. Open up the assets details page, go to the Services subtab and press Create Service Ticket. Is this what you’re looking for? Try it out and let us know.

We are actually hoping to for something a little different because the create a "service ticket" option requires not only a start date, but a completion date as well, which we would not have since this process would ideally be initiating the beginning of a service and not the end of a service.
We could make the "Create a Service Ticket" feature work for what we need to do, but if we are going to try and make that work then we would definitely need to have some sort of "Default Values" that we could set so that we don't have to enter imaginary start/end times every time we want to do this as well as setting the preferred maintenance vendor, etc.
