Add reservation approval
I would like to be able to approve a reservation for a date range and have that asset then become unavailable for others to check out for that date range. This would avoid a lot of confusion with my students as we have camera equipment reserved weeks in advance.
Why does the item get checked out immediately if the request isn't until a later date? Can you please make it so that the item is still available to be checked out by others in the interim? Otherwise, what is the point of having a Checkout Date?
The +1 date issue has been patched into production today
Syed - Now that I have been able to implement this on a larger scale I do believe the enhancements you have made are working quite well for our needs. There is one thing that is a little confusing, when someone reserves equipment and sets a "To" date the system actually sets the return date for the day after. For example: If I have a student wants to check out gear Thursday and return it Friday they have to set the "To" date as Thursday so the system makes Friday the return day.
This is opposite from when an admin does a check out and sets the return date.
We've recently added a few enhancements to the reservation workflow:
1. In Settings, there is now an option to limit reservation requests based on conflicts with others etc
2. In the reservations tab on the top right, we now list future reservation requests in red to highlight that they are not due. We now also have a note in the overlay for approval of reservations that highlights the effect of an approval ie immediate checkout
Do these enhancements meet your requirements?
I agree, it should still be available until the reservation date, then on that date should be checked out and therefore unavailable.
I think this is assumed in this request, but people should still be able to request the equipment in the days before the reservation, just as long as they don't overlap. I don't like how a reserved piece of gear is immediately checked out, even if the request isn't for a month from now.
