asset check in through iphone
When I do a asset check in through my iphone, it doesn't not show that the asset is in my custody on my colleagues desktop.

You and your colleague need to be signed into the same account, which I assume is the case. Next, you'll need to ensure that your colleague does a page refresh once you've checked in an asset ie either click the refresh button of the browser or click assets -> asset #
If even then your colleague is not seeing it checked in, can you confirm if you're a staff user and the company settings is not 'arbitrated'? Because if it is, an admin will have received an alert about your request for checkin, and once they approve, only then will it show up as checked in
