Add Bulk Check-Ins, Service Events and Location Transfers to Asset Stock
There currently seems to be an arbitrary division between the type of actions that can be executed on Assets vs. those that can be executed on Asset Stock.
For example, Asset Stock are not consumables (Inventory) and yet there is no current way of handling repairs to asset stock (e.g. 4 of 10 widgets are at vendor for repair).
Also there is no way to transfer asset stock from one location to another. In order to accomplish a "transfer", stock needs to be retired from one location, and then "purchased" or added to the new location. This is cumbersome and doesn't reflect the true nature of the stock transfer.
Finally, if I go to a member summary page I am given the option to take actions on the asset listing, but not on the asset stock listing.
This division of functionality severely limits the benefits of having my asset database organized into assets and asset stock.

My intent behind tracking services on Asset Stock is not individual tracking but more for "burn rate" and ensuring we enough asset stock to carry out client requests.
Here's a more specific example. We have 1000 widgets that we use for client projects. We require bundles of 200 widgets for each project job. Due to wear and tear, we now have 75 widgets that need repair. At this point, I have to "check-out" 75 widgets to myself, place a comment field indicating that 75 widgets are being serviced. I must do this in order to ensure we don't accidentally schedule 5 concurrent jobs (@200 widgets each) before the 75 are returned. Instead of "checking-out", I could also retire and unretire the 75 widgets.
My point is that this is a workaround. Just because I'm not tracking each widgets individually, doesn't mean that a) I don't want to track repairs to asset stock, or b) there isn't value in tracking repairs to asset stock.
Glad to hear of the planned updates in October. Thanks!

Hi Jasen
Thank you for the suggestions. Asset Stock inherently are things that you're not tracking individually. So a particular piece from an Asset Stock # or ID can not be pin pointed for service and such services.
Transfer of stock for Asset Stock is already planned for the near-term product roadmap. We aim to have it released by October.
Bulk check in and check outs of asset stock are also part of the upcoming upgrade October upgrade.regards
